National Heritage Fellowship Award - George Naope

Description: 

In 2006, Uncle George Naope received the National Heritage Fellowship Award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). He was 79 years old. Uncle George and ten other recipients were honored for their commitment to creative excellence and cultural heritage preservation. Uncle and his delegation, including Hula Preservation Society, traveled to Washington D.C. where he accepted the award and performed in a special concert. Part 1 is the formal Awards Ceremony on Capitol Hill. In Part 2, Uncle George and his delegation perform in the Fellowship Concert at the Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
